WATERCOLOUR GROUP

History & activities
The Group was founded in 1980 as part of the Highgate Society with the aim of enabling enthusiastic watercolour painters to work together in an informal atmosphere. Our main activity is to meet and paint together at 10A South Grove, Highgate, N6, on Thursdays from 10am to 3pm, divided into morning and afternoon sessions. Members may attend either or both sessions as they wish. We do not provide formal instruction, but from time to time invite a tutor for a master-class or hire a model to pose for us. Other activities include outings to paint at a variety of locations, for example river scenes or countryside; and sometimes we may paint in the gardens of our members and friends.
We hold an annual exhibition at Lauderdale House in Highgate and also exhibit occasionally at other venues. If you would like to come to any of our exhibitions please contact our chairman, Jill Wilkinson.
Membership
Although Membership is limited to
the space available to us at 10A South Grove, we are still looking for a few experienced watercolour painters (including those who also enjoy working in pastel and acrylic) who are interested in showing us examples of their recent work.
If you like the idea of working alongside other painters please contact our Membership Secretary, Sara Kaye, who will give you details of subscription rates, etc. and other information about joining the Highgate Watercolour Group.
